Position: Epidemiologist (Public Health / Data Analytics) Hybrid
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (37.5 hrs/week)
Setting: Public Health / Hybrid (TN residency required; in-person meetings monthly)
This is a 12-month contract role starting 06/15/2026, focused on analyzing prescription drug and overdose data to support statewide prevention efforts. The role will work heavily with Tennessee's Controlled Substance Monitoring Database (PDMP) and other public health datasets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting overdose prevention initiatives (naloxone, prescribing limits, education programs)
- Performing statistical analysis to identify trends, hotspots, and risk factors
- Linking datasets (CSMD, hospital discharge, vital statistics)
- Building dashboards and visualization tools for stakeholders
- Creating reports, including a focused buprenorphine analysis
- Ensuring HIPAA compliance and data governance best practices
- Collaborating with epidemiologists, providers, and public health leaders
Required qualifications:
- Master's in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field
- 2+ years of public health analytics experience
- Strong skills in SQL, R/SAS/Python/Stata, and Tableau
- Experience with data linkage and communicating findings to non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of overdose surveillance systems and public health datasets
