Description
University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center & Case Western Reserve University
Department of Radiation Oncology | Cleveland, Ohio
The Department of Radiation Oncology at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is recruiting two radiation oncologists to join our rapidly growing faculty.
With continued expansion across three of our nine radiation oncology locations, we are seeking exceptional physicians interested in careers that can be tailored to their individual strengths and aspirations, ranging from highly focused clinical practice to clinical-academic positions with protected academic time.
These positions represent an opportunity to join a department during a defining period of growth, investment, and transformation.
Why This Moment Matters
Over the past five years, the Department of Radiation Oncology at University Hospitals has undergone one of the most substantial periods of growth and investment in its history. Clinical volume has approximately doubled, our geographic footprint has expanded across Northeast Ohio, and the health system has made major investments in technology, faculty, research infrastructure, and clinical operations.
We are building a department designed not simply to participate in the future of radiation oncology, but to help define it.
New faculty will join a collaborative and ambitious group with the resources, institutional support, technology, clinical volume, and academic infrastructure to build a highly individualized and impactful career.
A Culture Built Around People
Our department has deliberately built a culture that recognizes that exceptional departments are created by exceptional people, not simply productivity metrics.
Faculty benefit from:
- Flexible career pathways, with clinical and academic effort tailored to individual interests, strengths, and career goals
- A compensation model designed to recognize clinical excellence, leadership, service, innovation, and academic contribution
- A highly collaborative, team-first culture that values collegiality and shared success
- Departmental leadership committed to removing barriers, supporting new ideas, and helping faculty build meaningful careers
- An environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement rather than acceptance of the status quo
We seek colleagues who want to help shape what the department becomes next.
A Comprehensive, Technology-Forward Cancer Program
Faculty join a major academic health system and comprehensive cancer program with an extraordinary breadth of clinical and technological resources, including:
- NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
- A 23-hospital integrated health system
- Nine radiation oncology locations across Northeast Ohio
- More than 5,000 new radiation oncology patient starts annually across the network
- More than $85 million in radiation oncology capital investment since 2021
- Ongoing expansion and replacement of linear accelerator technology throughout the system
- Access to emerging and first-in-market radiation oncology technologies, including the first clinical installation of Varian Accela, introduced publicly at ASTRO 2026
- Online adaptive radiation therapy with Varian Ethos
- High-volume stereotactic radiosurgery and SBRT programs
- Proton therapy
- A dedicated brachytherapy program and procedural suite
- Comprehensive disease-site multidisciplinary programs across the full spectrum of oncology
Our philosophy is to invest aggressively in technologies that meaningfully improve patient care, treatment delivery, safety, efficiency, and the physician experience.
Research, Clinical Trials, and Innovation
For faculty interested in academics, the department offers substantial opportunities for clinical and translational investigation.
Our program includes:
- One of the nation's leading Phase I clinical trials programs
- Exceptional participation in national cooperative-group research
- Repeated recognition among the highest-accruing LAPS sites nationally for NRG Oncology
- Extensive opportunities for investigator-initiated clinical trials
- Strong institutional infrastructure for translational research, biomarkers, imaging, genomics, and data science
- Faculty leadership across national clinical trials, cooperative groups, professional societies, and guideline committees
The department is also a national leader in the thoughtful application of artificial intelligence in radiation oncology, integrating AI into clinical workflows to improve efficiency, quality, safety, decision support, and clinician experience. Our goal is practical implementation that changes how care is delivered, rather than innovation for its own sake.
