Pediatric Ophthalmology - Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Ophthalmology
   The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented pediatric ophthalmologist to join our Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye- all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
   The position entails clinical activity, teaching, and opportunities for research at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and 1-2 satellite clinics. The pediatric ophthalmology division also has a pediatric optometry group all under the department of Ophthalmology. The division is a very active site for many local and multicenter clinical studies such as PEDIG (Pediatric Eye Disease Investigation Group). The division supports a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship as well as a pediatric optometric residency.
The department supports a 6-resident per year Ophthalmology residency training program, alongside fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina. A robust and active clinical trials team (Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports investigator-initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate sponsored studies. The Visual Science Research Center, which is led by the Department, of CWRU School of Medicine is a top funded basic science research group supported by P-30 core and T-32 training grants. Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center.
   The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into the decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, foster a high level of patient satisfaction, and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in teaching. The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
